There is a lot of music and dance- in fact the title Yo Gabba Gabba comes from the Ramones (a punk band) chant Gabba Gabba Hey.
Decorating for this party theme is fun, it's so bright and colorful...just what toddlers and preschoolers like. Use the colors of the main characters:
- Muno a red cyclops
- Foofa a pink flower bubble
- Brobee known as the little green one
- Toodee the blue cat dragon
- Plex the yellow robot
The Nickolodean website for the series contains great clip art and lots of fun pintables for kids. You might want to get some of the music from the show to play at the party.
Bring the colors of the characters, red, pink, green, blue and yellow into the invitations by using different colored inks for each line; address, date etc. You could write the invitation something like this. Hey, Yo Gabba Gabba needs you for a special show celebrating (fill in the blank with your child’s name). Come in costume!
Yo Gabba Gabba Party Game Ideas
A fun way to structure the party would be to use the regular segments of the show as party games and activities. Cool Tricks is were a child gets to display a special talent. Announce that it’s time for cool tricks, and let the kids tumble, stack blocks into tall towers, hop on one foot or the like. Give each child a reward for playing.
Play Color with Brobee where each child takes turns being Brobee and thinking of a thing. The others must guess what color it is by what he says. For example, “I’m thinking of something that flys and stings (a bee). Yellow and black are the answers.
If you have a Yo Gabba Gabba dance mat use it. Otherwise just play some fun music and have the kids dance. See who can invent new actions for the group.
Mark’s Magic Pictures is where the host teaches how to draw something, For a fun variation, choose a simple object to draw such as a snowman or a block house but don’t tell anyone what it is they’re going to make. Let’s say you decide to draw a bird. Tape a piece of white poster board to the wall then give the first child a marker. Tell them to draw a large oval. Have the next child draw a circle on top of it- be prepared- when all is finished it might not look anything like a bird. A triangle for the beak, another one or two for wings, a small circle for an eye. When everyone has taken a turn have them guess what they were trying to draw. Give everyone a prize.
When you’re ready for a little bit of quiet, have the kids sit down and play Listen With Toodee. Hide some items in a box or bag that make noise; a dog’s squeaky toy, a bell, keys, a bike horn. Without taking the object out of the bag, make noise with it and have the kids guess what it is.
For treats, make Yo Gabba Gabba cupcakes with white frosting and let each child decorate their own with colored sprinkles, or use the cute cupcake decorations in the picture. It's easy and fun to make homemade cupcakes for kids.
Make sure there’s some simple mazes or coloring pads in their goodie bags. You can find more kids party favor ideas here. There are lots of ideas to choose from including:
- Temporary Tattoos
- Tumbler with lid and straw
Your party guests will be thrilled with all or any of these fun choices.
