Pumpkin Carved into a Pirate Ship
Joyful and I went to the Giant Pumpkin Carve in Salem County, New Jersey. There were two barns filled with painted and carved pumpkins...many of which weighed about 50 pounds. That's a lot of pumpkin!
The Giant Pumpkin Carve is a yearly fund raiser for Meals on Wheels of Salem County. There is a fee to submit your carved or painted pumpkin to the event. This year (2010) there were 60 entries and they were displayed in two barns. Some were okay, some were very nice and some were amazing. Would we take the long drive and go again? Yes...I love decorated and carved pumpkins!
Some of the pumpkins were scary and some were funny...it was fun to see all of them. You can find some carving kits at our Pumpkin Decorating Kits
page. You can find the tools you need plus some pumpkin templates to make carving your pumpkins into a fun design very easy!
This picture is of a pumpkin designed to look like a pirate ship. It is commanded by Captain Book. If you look close enough you can see the ship's sails are made from paperback books. Don't ask me how they did it, but it was a great entry!
There should be more of these pictures up so be on the look out for them. Put pirate ship into the Google search box below.
