How To Make Fondant
Here's how to make fondant. Get these ingredients:
- 7 ounces of Marshmallow Cream
- 16 ounces powdered sugar
Mix the marshmallow cream and 12 ounces or 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. Stir these two ingredients together in a medium sized bowl. Stir them and while you are stirring press the mixture against the side of the bowl. It soon will clump together. When it forms a ball you will take it out and begin to knead it.
Start to knead your fondant on the work surface and slowly add the rest of the powdered sugar. Knead until the dough is nice and smooth. Put some powdered sugar on your work area and on your hands before you begin the kneading. This will prevent the fondant from sticking. Now you can shape the fondant into balls. Roll them into five inch circles and use your cookie cutters or fondant cutters to make shapes...like the heart shapes in the picture above.
Now, that is how you make fondant. Practice with it. Make different shapes and mold funny creatures with it, just like a child would with some play dough. You can create the most magnificent desserts now that you know how to make fondant. This marshmallow fondant recipe is a simple recipe to make and it is easy to make more than one batch.
To store your unused fondant place it in an airtight container and refrigerate it until you want to play with it some more...I mean decorate cakes or cupcakes.
The next time you make fondant you might try to roll it out into a very large circle. Place the fondant circle on top of your basic layer cake. It will look like a smooth frosting layer on top of your cake. Trim it around the bottom. Now add some of your cut out shapes to your cake and you've got a lovely, decorated fondant covered cake.
