Here is an easy kids Halloween recipe for Scary Finger Cookies. Serve up these fingers on your Halloween party table and listen to the raves you get. These cookies are fun and easy to make. This recipe makes 5 dozen or so cookies.

The ingredients you need are:
1 cup soft butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup whole blanched almonds
1 tube of red decorator gel

Get a large mixing bowl and add the egg, sugar, almond extract, vanilla and butter. Beat together. Once this is mixed well add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix all these ingredients together well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about half an hour. Using 1 tablespoon of dough at a time, and keeping the rest refrigerated, roll the dough into a finger shape for each cookie. Put one almond into the tip of each cookie to make the fingernail. Squeeze the cookie in the center to make the knuckle shape and then use a small knife to make several slashes in the dough to create the wrinkles of the knuckle.

Bake for 20-25 minutes at 325 degrees. Once they come out of the oven, lift each almond and place a small amount of the red decorating gel underneath to create a “blood under the nails” look. If you want to have a lot of fun with this you can dye your almonds with food coloring to turn the fingernails different colors or use more decorating gel to make bloody fingers!
