Jacob Black

Jacob Black, the Twilight Saga's very own Werewolf, is played by Taylor Lautner.

Jacob belongs to the Quileute Tribe and tells Bella Swan the legends of his tribe concerning the Cullen Clan. He helps her, without knowing it, to come to the conclusion that Edward Cullen is a Vampire.

Jacob is the son of Billy Black, Charlie Swan's best friend. He and Bella used to play together as children, but Bella doesn't remember him. Bella considers him a good friend, but Jacob has a big crush on Bella.

Jacob Black did all the engine work on the 1953 Red Chevy pickup that Charlie bought for Bella. He also repairs the old motorcycles that Bella finds in New Moon.

Jacob's character has a small part in the Twilight movie, but it grows larger and larger with each book of the Saga. He becomes a major character beginning with New Moon, when Bella turns to him as a friend when Edward leaves.

Jacob is a Werewolf. It's part of the Quileute legends that when the Vampires are near, members of their tribe turn into Werewolves to protect the land and the members of the tribe. Although Jacob is the son of the chief and next in line, he doesn't want the responsibility of being the Alpha pack leader. He allows Sam Uley to rule the pack of Werewolves.

Later in the Saga, Jacob breaks his connection with the pack to help protect Bella and the Cullen Clan. He also bonds with Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee, who he calls Nessie.
