What's Ice Age 3 About?
Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs is the third Ice Age kids movie and it is due out in July of 2009. It will be a popular movie and birthday party theme for kids. The Ice Age crew is back again.
Scrat looking for, and finally finding, his nut. Manny and Ellie who are awaiting the birth of their mini mammoth, Diego the Saber Tooth Tiger wonders whether or not he is too old. Sid the Sloth, in wanting to form his own family, takes some Dinosaur eggs, which leads him into a little trouble.
The entire gang goes to rescue Sid and run into even more adventures along the way. They not only find an underground world, meet up with Dinosaurs, and along the way they meet Buck, who is a one-eyed Dinosaur hunting Weasel. Let's see how they get out of this one in July when the movie is released to the theatres!
Make Dinosaur Name Tags
You can make Dinosaur name tags for each guest. Cut construction paper in the shapes of different Dinosaurs or in the shape of Dinosaur footprints. You can use the names of the characters in Ice Age: 3
Scrat
Manny
Ellie
Diego
Sid
Or you can write the names of different Dinosaurs on them. Some ideas for names are:
Tyrannosaurus rex (T. rex)
Ultrasauros
Megaraptor
Stegosaurus
Allosaurus
Or you can give them names of other prehistoric animals like:
Pterosaurs
Ichthyosaurs
Mammoths
Mastodons
Kids Dinosaur Party Game Ideas
But until then you can still use Ice Age 3 as a fun kids birthday party theme. It's quite easy to plan the games. Dinosaur Hunt is a fun party game for kids and it's easy for Moms to set up. Get Plastic Eggs and put some rubber or plastic dinosaurs in them, or get some Dinosaur Gummy candy. Hide the eggs around your house and yard. Let the kids find them. Ideas to fill the eggs are fossils, bones, dinosaur teeth or eggs and anything else that seems like an archeological artifact! Lead them to the site of the excavation...tell them what to look for and let your junior archeologists loose on the Dinosaur remanants waiting to be discovered.
Here are some very unique Dinosaur items that can be a lot of fun at your Dinosaur themed party and I really like. There is a Dinosaur Ice Cube Tray or it could be used as a Dinosaur Jello Tray, that's great! I also really like the Dinosaur Footprint Sandals. The real name for them is Trailin Tracks Animal Footprint Beach Sandals.
Dinosaur Trivia Questions
Get some Dinosaur trivia. Read some interesting facts about these prehistoric creatures to the kids. You can help teach children that it's fun to learn. And I'll bet you learn something new about Dinosaurs along with the kids.
Make Your Own Play Dough
Making your own fossil is a good Dinosaur party activity. It an easy project and you can use several different mediums to make a fossil. Play dough is one of the clay type materials you can use. You can make this mix ahead of time and have it all ready for your guests.
Play Dough Recipe
The ingredients you will need to make your own play dough are:
Flour 1 cup
Salt 1/4 cup
Cream of Tartar 2 teaspoons
Warm Water 1 cup
Oil 1 teaspoon
Optional Ingredient
Food Coloring
Mix ingredients and knead until dough is nice and pliable. Make sure it's easy to work with. If you like you can add a couple drops of food coloring to your homemade play dough for some color.
Next: Cook over a low or medium heat. Put your dough in a pan and stir it constantly over a low or medium heat. Your dough will, after a few minutes, begin to look like a ball in the center of your pot. This is when you take it off the heat. When it begins to cool you should knead it for a minute or so until it is nice and smooth. Put it away in your plastic bags or air-tight containers and store in the refrigerator.
You might want to mix several batches of this play dough recipe and make each one a different color.
Make Your Own Fossil
You can also look online to see other sites with instructions about making a fossil. It will tell you a little bit about what you will need to make a fossil, but don't worry...it's all very common stuff like a leaf or an acorn! Reach Out Michigan/a> has some good info.
Dino Walk Game
Make a Dino walk. Get a BIG sponge, cut it to make it look like a dino foot. Put some food coloring into a small bucket of water and make some Dinosaur footprints in your yard, along your sidewalk anywhere they look good. You can have your kids march along and follow the footprints. Or you can look at the pictures up above and purchase those really cool Dinosaur footprint sandals!
Dinosaur Relay Race
You can also make different trails in different colors and have a Color Dinosaur Relay Race. Have a couple teams, each with a different color, and have them follow their trail to the end, and back to the start line again. When the first team to complete the task is finished, you've got a winner.
This aluminum Wilton cake pan is shaped like a dinosaur, making it the perfect addition to any dinosaur theme party. Use it to make a dinosaur cake with just one package of cake mix or your favorite cake recipe.
One set of Dinosaurs favors, favor bag, crinkle paper and twist tie.
More Fun Party Games for an Ice Age 3 Dinosaur Party!
Little kids love party games like Freeze Dancing and Musical Chairs. You can give these classic, fun party games a little twist and make them Dinosaur Games! Freeze Dance to the music of Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaur or some other rocking Dino music. Get those little Dino Lovers dancing...and then stop the music and make them Freeze in place.
Musical Chairs can be twisted into Musical Dinosaur Footprints or The Archeologist Walk. Cut out some Dinosaur Footprints and secure them onto your floor. Make 1 less footprint than you have children.(For example, if you have 5 kids playing, have 4 footprints.) Have the kids walk around the footprints while music is playing. When the music stops, the kids have to stand or sit on a footprint to remain in the game. Each round one set of dinosaur footprints is removed, until only one Archeologist (child) remains.
The great thing about old, classic party games is they are fun! Kids like to play them and it's easy to twist them into whatever theme you want them to fit.
