Pirates have been plundering for centuries, and now it's your turn to become a plunderer, but not of the high seas...of the neighborhood candy arsenals!
Make this Halloween a Swashbuckling adventure while you loot and despoil the candy chest reserves at each of your neighbors home. Trick or Treat was never more fun than in your marauding freebooter get up.
Yes, you Sea Rover, pirates have long been know to be raiders and privateers...and when the evening of looting is over, ye will come home with your booty filled with candy and goodies...and another exciting Halloween will come to an end.
But there is one young lad who will continue to have adventurous dreams of a sailing ship bound for the high seas of adventure on a Pirates Corsair.
How to Make a Homemade Pirate Costume
Here's how to make a homemade pirate costume. First you will find the materials you need listed and then the instructions.
Pirate Costume Aarrrr, Matey!
Materials you will need for your homemade pirates costume:

5" square white felt for skull and cross bones
¾ yd print fabric for head scarf or purchase scarf
1 yd print purple felt for vest
¼ yd gold fabric for vest detail
¼ yd green felt for belt

Pajama bottom or sweatpants white shirt or sweat shirt eye patch
Optional: plastic sword, gold earring
Steps
Hat
Cut out 2 pieces (front & back) of black felt from hat pattern (see below).
Cut out skull and crossbones in white felt and glue to front of hat.
Iron on VELCRO® brand Fabric Fusion to inside of front and hat pieces on sides as marked on pattern.
Tie scarf on head then add hat at pattern.
Vest
Cut a rectangle of purple felt 40" x 12."
Fold in half so that dimensions are 20" x 12."
Neck opening - Find center of fold and cut a slit about 6" wide. Cut a neck-like shape at collar.
Cut an opening from the slit down the front from the fold to the bottom. This will be the front of vest .
Iron on VELCRO® brand Fabric Fusion – 8" lengths to front and back of each side of vest to create a closure. Start Fabric Fusion from the bottom.
Cut out eight 2" x 2" squares of gold fabric and glue to each side of front of vest as appears on costume drawing.
Belt
Cut a piece of felt 3" x 24"
Use three 4" pieces of VELCRO® brand Fabric Fusion for belt closure. Iron on three loop pieces to one end of belt. Iron on corresponding hook pieces of Fabric Fusion to other end of belt, for an adjustable closure.
That's a fine homemade costume you can make with velcro, and glue (I like to use a hot glue gun...but be careful, this glue is very, very hot.) I told you it was an easy homemade costume idea, didn't I?
You will need a few pirate essentials whether you are Capt. Jack Sparrow, of the Pirates of the Caribbean or just a Rouge pirate, perhaps Ruby the pirate, Lady Buccaneer.
You can find some great pirate costumes and accessories right here. Do you need an eye patch, a cutlass sword, a mustache? Perhaps a flashing skull necklace or flashing skull ring...
