Caramel Apples Double dip them with chocolate, roll them in nuts or candies
Caramel Apples are a perfect snack for the fall Halloween season. Get some crisp apples and candy caramels...and make yourself some tasty treats!
Start off with these ingredients:
6 apples
1 (14 ounce) bag of individually wrapped caramels
2 tablespoons milk
Directions to make your apples treats:
Lightly butter a baking sheet then put it to the side.
Then remove the stems from each of the apples and stick a craft (popsicle) stick into the top of each apple.
Remove the caramel candies from the wrappers and place in a microwave safe bowl.
Add the milk to the caramels.
Put the bowl into the microwave and heat for approximately 2 minutes, stirring half way through.
Carefully remove caramel from microwave and let cool for about 1 minute.
Quickly roll each apple in caramel until well coated.
Place on prepared baking tray and allow to set.
You can also double dip your caramel apples...melt the caramels and in a separate bowl, melt some milk chocolate. Dip apples in the caramel first, then the chocolate. Set them on the baking sheet. Delicious!
Extra fun...
put some coconut or crushed candy bars, candy corns, nuts, whatever you think of in bowls. Dip your caramel or double dipped caramel chocolate apples in the bowls and let sit to harden on the baking tray.
Why stop at two dipping toppings? Caramel, milk chocolate, and add some melted white chocolate or dark chocolate too. Add your fun candy or nut toppings will stick to the top of your apples making them look and taste great.
